Video essay research: Looking at some video essay's in E-Sports

While Esports on it's own has interesting research attached to it, i wanted to do some research into how i make a good Video Essay. This is because when it all comes down to it if my final product of my project isn't good or interesting then all the research i have done means nothing (that's not completely true but thinking about it that way makes it more tense right?)

So when looking at video essays and researching them the first thing that comes to mind is to watch some, preferably around the same duration that i will make mine in. Hopefully doing that will show me not only how to pace my video but also how they are edited to see if there are any specific tricks that make them look good and feel snappy.

Then the next question to ask began to loom over me, where do i find all the information i need? I mean sure i can watch a YouTube video essay that i enjoy (maybe even two or three) but i'll need more than that, for instance where do i find how to do the editing skills i may find when watching them or even just looking at the whole creative process and not just the finished product.

So i decided to take the first step watching a video essay similar to the duration that mine will be (i know, watching a YouTube video, tough right?)

The issue that i ran into when looking for video essays with the topics of E-Sports is that there are very minimal amount of videos, it's not that there isn't enough video essays about video games but the specificity of E-Sports is too narrow to have tons of videos about but even with this i decided to pick the best preforming videos i could find

The first video listed here (talking about the economic rise on E-Sports) reached 235,983 views with 11k likes which is a really good ratio however even though the video is well made i want to focus on e story of E-Sports rather than the economics

While preforming marginally worse than the previous video mentioned above it does still sit a solid 1.2 K views and follows the rough essence of what i want mine to look like. It begins with news broadcasts of people making fun of E Sports and then features a small clip from an interview with a player before beginning. While i enjoy this video and makes some good points that i want to feature i can't help but feel un-interested as i feel his voice didn't feature any interest and i feel the script isn't perfect. I do like the editing choices and the cutaways to interviews
